While you can't REALLY get better at it without practicing, and actually doing it, you can definitely learn from folks who have made a lot of mistakes and experimented with a lot of different techniques. Lucky for you, that person is me! I've hired 300+ people in my career and currently run a company with 52 employees (18 in the Philippines).

But it's a bad attitude and it's simply not true. Walmart and Home Depot in your town each have over 200 full time employees and you're meaning to tell me you just CAN'T find 5 people to work at your small business?

Do what it takes to recruit good people (charge more, pay more) and get out there and DO IT.
